How to bring Pantone’s colours of the year into your home

After the rollercoaster that was 2020, it’s not surprising that Pantone chose a colour called “Illuminating” to shine some light onto the new year. What is surprising, however, is that they announced not one, but two colours of the year for 2021. Paired with “Illuminating”, “Ultimate Grey” is set to be the perfect backdrop for what we hope will be a better year.

From bright feature walls to subtle pops of colour dotted throughout your rooms, there are plenty of ways to bring this combo into your home this year, and we’re going to give you a quick rundown on some of our favourites.

Splash it on the walls

If you’re looking for a bold way to let the world know that you’re ready for whatever this year has to throw at you, why not refresh your colour scheme with a lick of paint? A yellow feature wall could be the perfect way to add a dazzling pop of excitement to your living room, kitchen or even bathroom.

Make a statement

Neutral furniture has had its day, and while we’re sure it’ll never go out of style, why not try something a little different? A stunning sofa or armchair in a beautiful bright yellow would be the perfect addition to your living room, especially if your walls are a muted colour like “Ultimate Grey”.

Own it

If painting a whole wall yellow is a step too far, or if you’re not ready to part with your current beloved sofa, don’t despair. Why not scatter a few little accessories around instead? From throw cushions and curtains to vases and rugs, you can always add splashes of colour to a neutral room with a few finishing touches.
